Learn to Sail Program for Junior / Adult
Sailing
lessons run through the summer for kids from age 9. The goal of this
program is to promote excellence in sailing skills in an atmosphere of
enthusiasm and love of the sport. The course is taught according to the
Canadian Yachting Association's standards emphasizing safety, theory,
boat handling, sportsmanship, and for those so inclined, competitive
sailing. The prime objective is to learn to sail safely and competently
for personal enjoyment and fellowship.
Boats and
Equipment
Training is
delivered using a fleet of Optimist, Laser2, 420, and CL11 Dinghies.
Privately owned insured boats may be used. All privately owned boats
must be approved by PCSS.
PCSS will
supply a personal flotation device (PFD) for each students use. However
students may bring their own approved PFD. Students should bring a
change of clothes, hat and sun screen. It is recommended that students
bring a copy of the CYA sailing hand book (available to purchase from
PCSS). Students may also bring wetsuits, sailing boots, and gloves.
